The aim of the master thesis was to design the foundation of a bridge 200, a section of the highway bypass D4 Bratislava, Jarovce Ivanka north, on the basis of the available engineering-geological survey results. Before the foundation was designed, the maximum pier scour depth was calculated and taken into consideration in the foundation design. Considering the estimated scour depth and subsurface geological and geotechnical conditions, the bridge piers were founded on a pile foundation. A rectangular pile cap with dimensions 16x30 m is situated below the pier. A group of 120 concrete piles with the spacing of 2 m, a circular cross-section with 900 mm in diameter and length of 26.5 m supports the pile cap. The calculation of a pile bearing capacity was compared with the results obtained by the modeling in GEO 5 software. The pile group settlement was evaluated. A double wall cofferdam comprising of two rows of sheet piles of Larssen 25 type was designed for the reinforcement of the foundation pit and to protect the foundation against the scour.
