This diploma thesis deals with individual parts of the concept of waste management and landfill management in the center of Horné Požitavie, city of Zlaté Moravce. The first part is focused on the definition of basic concepts such as environmental management, defining and classifying of waste, brings knowledge of history of waste collection and waste accumulation, as well as with the policy and main objectives of waste management in Slovakia, or with individual methods of municipal waste management, such as disposal, recovery and landfilling of waste. In the seconf, application part are processed characteristics of the region together with an evaluation of the state of its waste management. Similarly, it is focused on the definition and description of selected landfills in the region, for own analysis and proposals to improve current environmental and legislative aspects of management of selected landfills, as well as waste management in the region, to make it more efficient.
