I would like to quote some points of my diploma thesis assignment:- Island context- Get down Santa Caterina- Create meeting places, exhibitions, presentations- Create meeting places for artists, critics, collectors- Space for study and recreation stays- Inspiratory environment- Link to natural scenery- Linked to the history of the place- Present art and gastronomy- Recreational, tourist and wellness stays- Social activities of the townThe aim of my diploma thesis was to fulfill all of the requirements in full, apart from the task of transforming the fortress of Santa Caterina. The architectural study attempts not to create but to complement and to be inspired by the existing structure of the dominant fortress with minimal intervention in the historical building. All newly proposed buildings are partially embedded in the mass of the hill so that they do not compete with the existing historic fortress and make them subtle accessories that bring to this historic environment the luxury and comfort of the 21st century. Part of the blocks is a concept worn with nature, where the space part of the blocks is a concept embedded with nature, where the space protrudes just something larger than stones that they are scattered over an existing hill. The central idea of the mass of all new objects is inspired by the irregular shape of the walls of the historic prison and the irregular shape of nature all around.
