The focus of the work was the derivation of crown projections from data acquired using the senseFly eBee Plus fixed-wing aircraft. During the flight, a senseFly S.O.D.A camera was placed on the device using the RTK / PPK function. The shooting took place on the territory of VŠLP TUZVO in the Carpathian Mountains in the area of two circular research areas established by us, with an area of 500 m2. One of the areas was focused on the predominant coniferous wood (white fir) and the second area had predominantly deciduous woody species (winter oak). Surfaces were outlined and parameters from them were focused using FiledMap technology. A digital surface model and an orthophotograph of the area of research areas were generated from the data from the unmanned aerial photography using Agisoft Photoscan Professional, which served as input for further processing. The derivation of crown projections was performed in the ArcGIS system environment using the method proposed by Panagiotidis using the Inverse Wathershed Segmentation algorithm. After applying the above-mentioned methodical procedure, we obtained data on crown averages from both areas, which we subsequently compared with reference data. We calculated the differences between RMSE and also the number of identified trees compared to the real number of trees in the research areas. This helped us to find out the influence of woody species on the detection rate and the accuracy of the crown average estimate, which was another purpose of our work.
