Dry reservoirs have a significant water management function in flood protection. The course of the floods in recent years and the influence of the flood flows through these water works have confirmed the validity and usefulness of the construction within the framework of comprehensive flood control measures in the individual basins of the Slovak Republic. This thesis deals with the design of dry retention reservoir in the framework of flood protection to account. The village of Vrbovce, part of the catchment area of the Haluznik creek. The thesis deals in more detail with the issue of flood protection and the methodology of designing the flood wave. The main objective of the work is to select a site for the construction of a dry retention reservoir and to deduce the design flood wave from the floodwater catchment area with a 100-year average duration. In the framework of the work, the transformation of the design flood wave by reservoir is achieved, resulting in localization of the location of the dam, its height, parameters of the discharge object and the safety of the reservoir.
