The role of the furniture in humanꞌs daily lifecycle and hustle, is to give them (people – users) the opportunity to satisfy their basic physiological needings. It should allow him to carry out necessary working activities, and the other social activities. It should also serve him to store various objects and things. For children is the presented topic more sensitive issue, relative to their still evolving organism. During the educational process, children spent a several hours a day in the sitting possition. Therefore, if furniture does not have right dimensions or ergonomical shaping, it can cause considerable health problems in their growth and development. Consequently, the main purpose of my PhD. thesis will be to determine the functional dimensions of the school set (chair, table), in view of the specifical (objective, subjective) needings, resulting from the interaction between furniture dimensions and anthropometric measurements of the user (child – pupil). Through the use of matematical and statistical methods, we evaluated the specific (objective and subjective) needs of the user. We also evaluated the interactions between the various parts of the school set (chair and table) separately, and also in relation to the user anthropometric measurements. We determined the functional dimensions of the school set, and also added another specific parameter – shelf position.
