PALKO M.,: Quantification of the attack of spruce bark beetle and six toothet bark beetle on LHC Starovec LS Štiavnik by catches in pheromone traps and their impact on the volume of random logging since 2012. Zvolen: Technical university in Zvolen, Faculty of forestry, 2019. 54 p.The diploma thesis deals with the problem of the attack of the spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus) and the six toothed bark beetle (Pityogenes chalcographus) at LHC Starovec managed by the Forestry community Štiavnik s.r.o. . Activization and occurrence of these two species of bark beetle in Europe is discussed in first chapter. The following chapters deal with the natural conditions and characteristics of our area of interest and the occurrence of bark beetles within our area. The process for placing pheromone traps according to STN is described in detail. The incidence was monitored by the number of captured adult beetles in traps, which we obtained from the evidence of harmful factors and our own monitoring. Furthermore, the impact of the occurrence of the investigated pests on random yearly logging is analyzed. It was found that the random logging caused by the bark beetle culminated in 2016 when its volume equaled 72.08% of the total planned harvest. In the discussion, we compare the situation in the Forest community in Štiavnik with the trend of development of bark beetles and random logging in Slovakia and, in conclusion, we seek expert advice to propose measures to reduce the impact of these two bark beetles on the amount of random logging.
