This bachelor thesis deals with the fire protection equipment of the large capacity oil tanks. This bachelor thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter deals with basic information on flammable liquids, the oil itself and how it is formed, the characetirstics of the oil products and the physial and chemical properties of oil. The second chapter lists the basic information on transit, how the oil is transported to Slovakia and the types of storage tanks. It focuses on the large capacity oil tanks in more detail; Their construction and maintanance; the causes of the fire and explosions of these storage tanks. The third chapter of this thesis deals with the firesafety protection equipment of the large capacity oil tanks. This chapter focuses on the fire protective signaling systems, built -in and semi-stable fire fighting devices used during the firefighting action. The fourth chapter deals with the types of storage tank fires as well as the means of tackling them. This thesis aims to show the fire protection options of the large capacity oil tanks. Based on the literature and documents used it also aims to assess the fire protection oil tanks. The outcome of my thesis is the characteristics of the types of the fires of the tanks and the evaluation of the fire safety measures of the oil tanks. This is based on the study of the literature and available documents. Based on these, I have concluded the systems used are suitable and compliant.
