The aim of the diploma thesis is, after the analysis of the environment in which the snow ploughshare works, the types of wear and the material analysis of the snow ploughshare, to propose a suitable modification to prolong its service life. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis characterizes forest roads and their treatment, snow ploughshares, types and mechanisms of wear to which the plough is exposed at work and tests of mechanical properties of materials. Further are characterized the methods of increasing the service life of materials, namely hard surfacing and the options of using other types of steel for the production of the snow ploughshares. An experiment is realized in the practical part. Based on the types of wear, suitable hard-surface material was chosen which we applied on the function area of the snow ploughshare. Further, we chose a material with a higher degree of abrasion resistance, which would be welded to the base material of the snow ploughshare or applied to the entire snow ploughshare. Subsequently we performed a hardness test, microscopic analysis, in order to determine the correct choice of hard-surface material and abrasion test of the material. By a suitable choice of hard-surface material or by changing the basic material, we can increase the service life of the ploughshares, which is evaluated in the results of the diploma thesis with recommendations for practice.
