The attractive structures used in exterior conditions include the lookout towers. Solid wood, logs, but also other building materials (stone, metal, masonry) are dominant materials. The history of lookout towers is dated back to the distant past. As positive can be considered the fact that at the present time, not only in Slovakia but also abroad, observation towers of various construction systems and materials are built, especially those of the original design evoking positive interaction of human being and nature. An overview of various types of observation towers based on wood and other building materials is mentioned in the bachelor thesis. From a large amount of lookout towers in Slovakia and abroad, the final selection was made in terms of personal survey, technical documentation, as well as via the Internet. The design of the lookout towers from the perspective of technical information is described in the thesis. Moreover, towers can also attract the interest of general public in terms of their history, philosophy and uniqueness. Currently, new spatial dimensions are preferred in construction - high-altitude walkways, toboggans, dominated by new wood-based construction materials and joint types.
