The aim of this work is to analyze the occurrence of the term bioeconomics and its modifications in selected strategic documents of the Slovak Republic. We analyze forestry, agricultural rural development and energy documents, from 2009 to the present. Strategic documents are analyzed by qualitative research using content analysis. We also use quantitative analysis that examines whether the term bioeconomics and its modification is found in the given strategic documents of the Slovak Republic. We interpret the aims of the work in discussions where we describe the extent to which the concept of bioeconomics is incorporated in the documents. Subsequently, we compare the position of Slovakia and other EU member states in the area of implementation of bioeconomics strategy at the national level. The results show that the Slovak Republic has no established bioeconomics strategy.
