The main focus of the diploma thesis is oriented to the elaboration of a complex issue of hydrothermal influence of wood, as well as individual changes of properties that occur during the process. Based on the type of selected wood material, which in our case is birch wood, there will also be a processing of the properties of this wood. The next part of the work describes the milling technology, tools and machines used in milling, methods of this technology and, last but not least, empirical relationships. The theoretical part is also enriched with an analysis of the energy intensity of the woodworking process, where the methods of calculating the cutting force and cutting power are discussed. This section also provides an example of several principles for measuring cutting power. An important part of the work is the analysis of independent factors such as technical - technological parameters (angular geometry of the tool, feed rate, cutting speed, etc.), or physical and mechanical properties of wood for the energy intensity of the woodworking process. The last part deals with the methodology of possible experimental work, includes information on the production and subsequent hydrothermal treatment of experimental samples. In the next part of this chapter it is indicated on which machines and with which measuring devices the experimental measurement of the energy intensity of the machining process would take place.
