The aim of this final thesis is in the following chapters to introduce the effort of literature group Napred, to enforce a new concept of literature in the second half of the 19th century by the mediums of almanac Napred (1871) and the magazine Dunaj (1874). Elucidating of a literary effort of Napredists in the first chapter we will explore social, political and literary circumstances of forming young literary generation Napred. In the second chapter we will aim at the background of the formation, development and literary arguments of the almanac Napred. In the following chapter we will introduce members of the group Napred and their contribution into the development of the Slovak literature. In the third chapter we offer circumstances and reasons of the constitution of the fictional magazine Dunaj and the interest of Napredists in this magazine. In the following chapter we will look at its content and in the last chapter we will introduce manifestations and opinions of literary criticism about the articles published in the magazine Dunaj. In the conclusion we will evaluate the importance of the literary programme of the young generation in the development of the Slovak literature. Key words: Magyaization. Hviezdoslav. Napredists.
