Master´s thesis adressed construction of a coffee table with a focus on reducing its weight and price. The proposal is based on the original construction from the manufacturer, reseller options, Tempo Kondela Ltd. Construction alternatives are designed so that the shape of the coffee table remained, only the construction of the parts and material. The work is divided into four parts. In the first and second part of this is theoretical entry into furniture design solutions, materials. In the following chapters, we use the knowledge gained during our studies at Technical University, Department of Furniture and Wood Products. We describe the different concepts of furniture sector to better understand and better visualization of the production. The third part of the work contains a methodology proposal design coffee table. This is the construction of the individual components and their fasteners and the use of different materials because of a potential loss of weight and price of the product. In the fourth part of the work are not only made comparisons of the models, but also the materials of coffee tables of possible alternatives. In the end, the work is a summary of the comparison and assessment of alternatives, each. Following are results of the lightest and the cheapest design and comparision with the original construction of coffee table with maintaining the same shape and dimensions.
