The aim of our work was to find out to what extent the application of paints, specifically selected type of violin varnish, influences the properties of wood in the technology of violin production. The diploma thesis deals with the technology of production of violins and also with the technology of production of varnishes, which are used in the process of finishing the instrument, painting of the violin. It characterizes problems of production of the individual varnishes, which are used in the production of violin. Than we have described the method of experimental measurement using Chladni patterns (visualization of modes of vibration) and calculations of values of relevant physico-acoustic characteristics (FACH). The measurements were made on the test pieces of thin rectangular wooden plate and two violin plates. These test pieces were made from a material that makes musical instruments such as violins. The results of the experimental part suggested that the applied "1704" spirit varnish has no significant effect on the FACH wood change. In the case of measuring FACH test pieces in the form of a rectangular thin spruce and maple plate, this was also confirmed by the statistical test. And also, the applied varnish did not affect the significant change in the tuning of the violin plates.
