The aim of the thesis was to describe the bank vegetation of the Rajčianka river, size up status and structure of it. In the first part, the thesis focuses on the study of literature and ground in with the issue of bank vegetation. On the basis of fulfilling the functions in the country, we divide them into a bail-out, water-proof, anti-deflationary, bioecological, landscaping and production. Most of these functions are protective in relation to the environment. To a lesser extent, we discussed the issue of bank of the water flow, where zonality was applied in relation to soil moisture. Here, the plant is divided into a profundal, sublitoral, eulitoral or supralitoral zone. In the second part, the thesis deals with the characteristics of the Rajčianka River itself. The field survey took place on the flow from the town of Rajecké Teplice to the village of Čičmany, 27.2 km long, excluding built-up areas of residential zones. According to the changing conditions and structure of the bank vegetation 34 transits were mapped.. In these were evaluated woody composition, health condition, species richness, width of vegetation and consequently total evaluation of bank vegetation, especially for both banks. 56 species of trees were mapped. The average species richness of the left bank is 6 and for the right one 7 species. The most frequent woody species is the white willow (Salix alba L.), which is located in more than 82% of the territory. It was followed by the grey willow (Salix eleagnos Scop.), the higher ash (Fraxinus excelsior L.) and the common hazel (Corylus avellana L.). The mapped vegetation were mainly located on unshelled waterside with continuous vegetation or vegetation from larger groups of trees. The average width of both left and right bank vegetation was about 7 meters.
