The main goal of this thesis was the proposal of both reconstruction and revitalisation of the Hurban's Barracks object in the city centre with the aim to preserve urban character and to activate its inner courtyard . The program of the object was chosen to be the cultural centre. The part of the original structure has been replaced by a structure that is a part of the newly projected pedestrian promenade leading through a neighbouring yard towards the Medical Garden. In this object, a multifunctional hall with the capacity of 170 people was created. An amphitheatre that creates a cross-road for pedestrian routs leading to the barracks was inserted into the inner courtyard. A colonnade was created in the parterre of the original object, which assumes the recovery of the inner yard as well. The design of the original object included except of the premises for the commercial usage also galleries, dance halls, theatre halls, music school, recording studios, premises for the artistic incubators and creative workshops and studios. The object of Hurban's Barracks is thus becoming a cultural centre of the larger area with a maximum emphasis on the usage of the inner courtyard, and therefore, it reflexes the requirements that arose in the initial reflections.
