This thesis concerns itself with the topic of the design of an architectonical detail or accessory. The main goal of this thesis is to create a design of an air conditioning unit, which would match all the criteria of an aesthetically pleasing product. I have studied and analyzed the effects of air conditioners on people, the basic facts of their construction as well as their effect on the surrounding area. I have analyzed the technical principals and inner workings of air conditioning units and I implemented this knowledge into the innovative design of the new air conditioner. This helped me create a new concept of an air conditioner which is still evidently related to other units of this type, but offers an aesthetic and functional alternative to other air conditioning products. The biggest contributions of my design are the aesthetic effect on the surroundings, modular variability, adaptability to different requirements, a more positive ecological effect and its user-friendliness. The main goal was to create my own vision of an air conditioning unit which would offer an alternative to the more traditional units of this type and to make it more aesthetic and functional at the same time.
