I have chosen theme for my diploma project in winter semester. It was to design car showroom in Bratislava, Mlznské nivy. Site of mine project is located on northern side of Mlznské nivy, near street Svätoplukova. Site has roughly shape of the rectangle and currently the si no existing development on it. Near surroungding of the site should be developed in near future as a shopping centre, Office buildings and bus station, all f them as a part of project Twin City. Considering that near development will probably be consisting also of fairly high office buildings I decided to design mine object a 12 storey high. Fisrt and second levels are creating a larger base with function of car showroom and service. 10 levels above them are with Office function and thez are ment to be a regional HQ for car company and possible his partner companies. There are also 4 underground levels those are dedicated for parking. From architectural point of view, building fits into shape-simple surroundings. In my diploma project I was designing public accesible areas. The car showroom and lobby of office building. Interiors of these space are clean in design, airy a unobtrusive. Objective was to create architeture that will not disturb but rather create calm background for uplift showcased cars. Considering that this looked like to me as conservative solution I decided to choose Mercedes -- Benz car maker as the one, which has reputation of modern but subtle car designs.
