The aim of this diploma project was to design an energy efficient multifunctional residential building, which could provide high-standard living environment, would fit in to its neighbourhood sensitively and apply ecological principles. The area lies in Bratislava city part - Nové Mesto between streets Vajnorská and Račianska. Design is based on urban study of this site calculating with the design of residential complex focused on retaining rainwater and using solar energy. I focused on creating a suitable architectural and urban expression of the object within the residential complex and also the functional relations which this kind of building needs. Retail space is added on the first floor and there are also other supplementary functions added to residential function of this building as to increase the standard of living, but also to create a suitable conditions for active interaction of inhabitants. I connected the catching of rainwater with extensive vegetative roofs, grass-covered terraces and grown-over facades. These elements, besides they increase the architectural expression of the building, they positively influence the microclimate in the neighbourhood.
