Jurga, Adam, B.c.: Theater and school of contemporary dance, Šafárikovo námestie, Bratislava ( diploma project ) -- Slovakian University of Technology in Bratislava, faculty of Architecture -- Institute for Construction in Architecture and Civil Engineering Works. Supervisor of the diploma project: Ing. arch. Eva Vojteková, PhD. -- Bratislava: STU, 2014, 30 p. The principal assignment for the diploma project was to create an architecture study for the project of a theater and school of contemporary dance at the Šafárikovo námestie, in Bratislava, - district Staré Mesto. The aim of the project was to brighten up the currently not very pleasant Šafárikovo námestie by creating there a new cultural center. The buildings - gallery, school of dance, theater -- satisfy with their functionality the main idea of the project. In its height, the object does not interfere with the surrounding buildings, on the contrary, it tries to complement the existing street line of the Štúrová and Dubrovičová street. The exterior of the school of dance building consists of a great staircase, that will serve as an external amphitheatre mainly used during warm summer days, and as a place with a nice view over the riverbank of the Danube. The buildings are interconnected by a "square", that is embedded in the complex as well, which even increases the attractiveness of the area. Another external stage is situated in this part of the terrain, complementary to the dancing school building. The gallery creates the new dominant and serves as a benchmark of the given locality. The object is dedicated to the famous photographer Ladislav Bielik. The capital characteristic features of the project are bevels, creating the architectonical expression of the design, and wooden linings, which represent an important component of the facade composition.
