The work is focused on the reaction of the Tatra chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra tatrica) to human presence in the Low Tatras National Park. During the field research in the months of June to October 2019, we recorded the escape distance of chamois on two sections: Chopok - Sedlo Poľany and Sedlo Poľany - Skalka. When we are comparing these two localities, we found a larger escape distance in the section Sedlo Poľany - Skalka, while in the section Chopok - Sedlo Poľany the escape distance was significantly smaller. The different escape distance was caused by the influence of tourism in individual localities. Other variables such as the size of the group of chamois, the size of the group of tourists did not prove significant. We subsequently evaluated the obtained results with the works of other authors
