In our bachelor thesis we deal with fire-technical characteristics of wood and improvement of its properties. In the first chapter we will describe the general development of wood burning. In the second chapter, we will describe methods of improving fire-technical properties of wood with a focus on flame retardants (retarders based on natural and nanoparticles, thermal treatment of wood, etc.). In the next chapter we describe selected methods for determining fire-technical characteristics of wood and wood-based materials. The last chapter deals with the comparison and evaluation of data obtained from literary sources. The aim of the bachelor thesis was to describe the issue of fire-technical characteristics of wood.
