The diploma thesis is focused on mapping the interest in color shades of wood in the practice of wood processing and furniture companies. The importance of this topic is based on the continually changing market behaviour, where companies must respond immediately and adapt their offer to trends and competition. In this work we clarified the current state of the problem at local and abroad situation. We focused primarily on the color of wood, methods of its determination and changes through surface and hydrothermal treatment. The main target of the work was realized by a questionnaire survey, which was sent to the Slovak wood processing and furniture companies. We processed the results in a graphical and descriptive way. The final part of the work was focused on the evaluation of achieved results and definition of differences in offer between wood processing and furniture companies. We are convinced that results will be beneficial for practice work of wood processing and furniture companies.
