The aim of the thesis is to analyze the environmental crime of poaching in the region of Banská Bystrica. It focuses on the division of environmental offences under the Criminal Code. Mainly on poaching as an environmental offence that has a negative impact on the environment and society. It analyses the perpetration of environmental crime of poaching in a conjunction with other crime and the resulting damage. This work provides the key methods of prevention and elimination of poaching environmental crime. The main idea of this thesis is statistical evaluation by districts in the Banská Bystrica region and proper statistical evaluation of hunters, who have become poachers. During the observed period 2008 – 2018, there had been created the map of criminality in particular districts of the Banská Bystrica region. Besides evaluation of the current situation, the contribution of this thesis are also created proposals and measures for prevention.
