The diploma thesis deals with the evaluation of the specified lower explosive limits (DMV) of selected flammable liquids with two calculation methods and a comparison with the data given in the safety data sheet. The lower explosive limit belongs to the fire technical characteristics of flammable substances. Selected flammable liquids are acetone, toluene, ethanol, 95 octane gasoline and 99 octane gasoline. Determining the lower explosive limit of flammable liquids provides protection against fire and explosion in technology, storage and handling. The experimental determination of DMV was performed in a VK 100 blast chamber and according to the ASTM E681 test method. The evaluated results of experimentally determined DMV of flammable liquids were comparable with the calculation methods and with the values in the SDS. Only two samples became different in the DMV tests in the blast chamber, which could cause the accuracy of the measurement.
