The main aim of the bachelor thesis is the characteristic and comparison of choosen loan products of the commercial banks in the Slovak Republic. The theoretical part describes the banking, the position and aims of the central bank and commercial banks, which are subsequently divided and characterized. Changes in the competencies of the National Bank of Slovakia after the introduction of the Slovak Republic to the European monetary union are also mentioned and justified. The second subchapter describes the operations of the commercial banks and divides loans according to several aspects. The specific loan products of these banks are characterized in detail. The next subchapter talks about the loan process, how it progresses and what is needed to provide the loan. In the analytical part of the bachelor thesis there are analysed two mortgage loans in different banks and their evaluation using a model example.
