Although progress in the development of antimicrobial drugs is considerable, contageous diseases are still one of the main causes of death worldwide, particularly due to increasing resistance of organisms against drugs. Transitional metal complexes are a challenge for the development of new drugs because of their coordination variability. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to investigate the basic properties of ligands forming salicylate complexes with nitrogen ligands – 1, 10-phenanthroline and 2, 2-bipyridine, as well as to create a report of published results in the last period of time. Attention is paid to mainly to the structural and biological effects of the studied compunds.
