My work focus on stand tending – thinning, with focus on broadleaved stands of beech and oak. I analysed chosen dendrometric dimensions ( thickness in 1,3m, height distribution of trees) from 3 long term research plots (TVP) with area of 50x50m, which are situated in VšLP in Zvolen in LC Budča. TVPs belong to forest type (slt) Fagetum pauper, in 4. Vegetation level. TVP 3 is control plot, where we did not use any of stand tending methods. TVP 1 and TVP 2 plots are tended by Schädelin quality thinning method, in part of release thinning. We measured thickness of trees according to their species and their height, where we used Polanský classification. We used thinning in layer with positive selection, by method of target trees, without their marking on plot. In TVP 1 wa eliminated mostly oak. From TVP 2 we eliminated higher amount of beech with objective to release crown space for oak from upper layer and increase their production. We analysed influence of this type of thinning on height, thickeness and structure of crown base. We confirmed that chosen dendrometric charakteristics of beech and oak in control plot did not reach as high number as on thinned plots.
