The main aim of my diploma thesis was to develop an architectural design of student center in Bratislava on the land opposite to the Faculty of Civil Engineering and on the street of Imrich Karvaš. The proposal includes a student center library, lecture rooms, catering facilities, underground parking and technical facilities. Also leisure and recreation area, located in the atrium of the building and before entering the Faculty of Civil Engineering, where the current parking is, are parts of the suggestion. Mass-spatial solution was influenced by the complicated situation. The land is bordered on all sides by streets and is located at the crossroads of major transport routes. The land is also next to the National Bank of Slovakia and the building of Faculty of Civil Engineering. Nearby there is Blumental church and multi-purpose residential house Avion. Horizontally articulated seven storey building of the library is located at the corner of the main communication and creates dominates of the proposed composition. The part of proposal is the bridge, linking student center with the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Traffic situation in the area is not optimal due to the daily passage of large numbers of students. Problem is also a car parking in front of the Faculty of Engineering. In my work I propose a solution that provides for transfer the parking in front of the Faculty of Engineering into the underground garage proposed for the student center. My suggestion offers the student center in the lucrative area designed to the training, learning and nutrition centers to also improvement of environment quality solutions through staging atrium with greenery, walkable green roofs and relaxation area in front of the Faculty of Engineering.
