Degree of qualification: Bachelor. Zvolen: LF TU, 2019. 54 strán.This bachelor thesis consists of two chapters. The first chapter’s content is a description of lyme borreliosis and the second chapter is about lyme encephalitis. They are two diseases which are most common as occupational diseases in forestry workers. In both diseases we describe the origin, the way of transmission of bacteria or viruses. These diseases are transmitted by the ixodes ricinus tick, and they were also proven to be transmitted by different blood sucking insects. Lyme encephalitis can be transmitted by the gastrointestinal tract by drinking goat, sheep and cow milk. We dedicate clinical and laboratory diagnostics, where we find out it is very difficult to diagnose and treat the disease. The next subheading is about treatment and possible prevention. A vaccination against lyme borreliosis doesn’t exist at the moment, the only form of prevention is to reduce the risk by self protection against ticks. Prevention by vaccination is possible in encephalitis, which has a high success rate. In the last subheadings we talk about the disease from the view of occupational disease by analysis of acquired information from materials dedicated to these issues.Key words: tick, lyme borreliosis, lyme encephalitis, transmission, treatment, prevention, occupational medicine
