The theme of my diploma thesis was the Liptovská Mara Museum. The assignment was not fixed for all students, but we could choose ourselves. The solved area is located in Liptovský Mikuláš, Palúdzka. In the future, the city plans to tranship an existing railway line that runs alongside the Liptovská Mara water reservoir. This open up new opportunities to connect the city directly to this water reservoir. Until now, the city has been separated from Liptovská Mara by a railway line which has been designed as a flood barrier, and is thus placed much higher than the nearest surroundings. It thus creates not only a traffic barrier, but also a considerable height barrier. The railroad will be removed by the railing, and the city can be extended to the bank of the dam. It is in this area and directly on Liptovská Mara that my area is located. The function that I want to solve as the assignment of my thesis results from the history of Liptov. Before the construction of the water works, there were 13 villages in the area, which had to be flooded because of the construction Liptovska Mara. My goal was to create a memory as a form of compensation for the fact that many people must to leave their birthplace and homes. The main idea of my diploma thesis was to create a visitor's feeling drowned and subsequent to rise as a symbol of the fact that they also created a dam that protects and for many years will still protect people from the floods that plagued them before. The museum should be a symbol of the fact that although their names disappeared from the map, they will never disappear from the memory of Liptov. Throughout my work, I followed the main idea of the museum, which led my work from the very beginning to the last conclusion.
