Present cable yarders and their carriages are described from technical and technological point of view. Also, foreign cable yarders Valentini and Syncrofalcke are described. Content of this thesis cover full hang and half-hang log yarding and also yarding evaluation due to silviculture, which needs to use ,,blade-group” regeneration or combinations such as Eberhard and Philipp – Kurz regeneration cut andduring yarding use ,,assortment method”. There are suitable cable yarder and carriage types selected for stand regeneration in this thesis for slopes above 40 % grade. Also, I aimed at undergrowth silviculture and consequences such as undergrowth damage, stand damage and erosion. There is also new carriage type Falcon equipped with harvester head description in this thesis. This carriage can cut pulled stem. In the last chapter is short description of cable yarders using at slopes above 40 % grade. In conclusion there is mentioned, that it is easier to use medium capacity cable yarders with simple carriage.
