The main aim of diploma thesis is to find out how climate change and climate variability affect the growth of beech and what the causes of climate change are. The aim is also to find out how anthropogenic, abiotic, and biotic factors affect growth of beech. In the theoretical part I described the causes of climate change, greenhouse effect, carbon cycle and the impact of drought on growth of beech. In the theoretical part I also dealt with the characteristics of beech, its distribution in the world and in Slovakia, taxonomy, morphology, anatomy and its conditions. In the practical part I dealt with the Spline method and the principle of its functioning. This method eliminated the age trend from each series. In this part I also described wood stocks- their collection, measurement and analysis. Wood stocks were taken only from beech wood in 4 localities - Ciganka, Kalša, Staré Hory and Motyčky. Wood stocks were taken from 30 trees - 15 level trees and 15 other trees were selected to represent the entire height structure of the stand. In the results, I analyzed and observed the impact of climate factors on growth of beech. I compared the results from 4 localities in the spring and summer seasons.
