The task of the bachelor's thesis was to reshape currently unsatisfying state of the pedestrian zone in the center of Trenčín by proposal that would not only suit the individual needs of one man but also suit the social interaction needs of a wider group of people. To do this, it was necessary to remove distracting elements of original condition, such as planters, curbs, high foliage and advertising posters. The objective of achieving compactness, beauty and maximum functional and operational stability, I decided to base my proposal on a simple checkered ground-plan scheme to simplify its expression and orientation in space. By incorporating natural elements such as wood, foliage and water I was trying to achieve maximum psychological well-being for users of public space, by linking the central area of the square, on one side with the park, on the other side with river, I used the potentials that the area has to offer. Due to different height levels of the square and pedestrian zone, I focused on the handicap accessibility solution through a slightly sloping and dimensionally compliant ramps that connect the pedestrian zone with the square, as well as in connection to the roads. The identity of the area is enhanced by the simple urban furniture in harmony with a ground plan outline. KEY WORDS Pedestrian area,
