Estimation of the discharge is very important not only for hydrology. People were interested in hydrological conditions on rivers and trying different experiments linked to detection of discharge in the past In these days exist many different methods of discharge measurements in open channel. On the selection of the correct method of measurement and estimation of discharge have influence several factors, such as type of flow, physical parameters of water and also natural conditions at the place. This bachelor thesis describes several methods of measuring discharge in the flow channel, whereas we focus on estimation of discharge based on velocity of water flow. The primary method describe in this thesis is measuring by the hydrometric propeller, which is the most popular method using for estimate of discharge in the Slovakia and in the world too. For the purpose of this thesis we use float method for measurement of discharge too, which is one of the oldest method. The main goal of this thesis is calculation of discharge by this two method and compare our results against results calculation by other methods using for measurement discharge in open channel and value from consumption curve for the current water level at the time of measurment of discharge Methods of work was applied to Stupavský stream near a stream-gauging station Borinka .
