This bachelor thesis is concerning with a transport, which is the cause of mercury pollution of environment around the area of the city Zvolen. Through the review we described in detail negative effects of transport on human‘s health and environment in general. Then, we mentioned sources of mercury which is classed into heavy metals. Main aim of this bachelor thesis is to value the presence of mercury in urban part of Zvolen and it is suburb in samples of dust near the roads from eight analysed locations. For analysis we used absorptive spectrophotometer AMA 254. The amount of mercury in samples of dust near the roads is from 0,045 mg.kg-1 to 0,014 mg.kg-1. The highest average measured amount of mercury is near the Technical university of Zvolen. Afterwards, results are compared with results from the year of 2015 and other available literal sources. Amount of mercury in our samples are lower in comparison with other available literal sources.
