The main task of my bachelor thesis is an analysis of bearing plates using analytic and numerical methods, creating the basis, on which the modern computer programs are established. I focused my attention mainly to two numerical methods -- Finite Element Method (FEM) and Finite Difference Method (FDM). When using FEM, my task was to create the stiffness matrix and the load vector of a rectangular finite element having three parameters in each nodal point and, if possible, use them in an analysis of a given plate. I have compiled the stiffness matrix, but there were some problems with its use for an analysis of a given plate, because of a big amount of necessary parameters leading to a large system of equations, that was in the commonly available processors (Excel, Mathcad) not solvable. Therefore, I have to dealt with the FDM. I rewrote the differential equation of the bearing into the difference operators, and by them I set up system of equations for calculating deflections in nodal points of the network, then by the use of difference operators I determined the values of the specific bending and torque moments in the specified structure.
