The aim of the bachelor thesis is to design a multifunctional sport hall, which is supposed to form a part of independently operated sport complex. For the time being, it is interconnected to the student housing complex ŠD Mladá Garda located in Bratislava, in the Nové Mesto district. The proposal also conceptually works with the surrounding area – it deals with the traffic connections of the new building to the Račianska ulica, the proposal of the bus turning loop as well as a parking lot created by transforming morally outdated structure of the cellular garages into the functional urban space. The new building is situated in the southern part of the sport complex. Its volume is incorporated into the urban structure parallel to the forming lines of the Mladá Garda dormitory. The proposed object has functionalistic expression and its architecture clearly indicates the displacement of its functions. It is a dominant feature of the complex, as well as it is involved in creating of a new identity of the STU, but at the same time does not try to compete with the objects of the student home complex. The space for athletes, spectators and administrative staff, creates a harmonious and multifunctional unit that also uses the surrounding exterior areas. The proposed object consists of indoor as well as outdoor sport facilities: a multifunctional gym, a fitness gym with a gymnastic section, a tartan track, an outdoor climbing wall and beachvolleyball courts. The sport hall is also designed to be used for extra-league matches, not only for the dominant training purpose.Variability of functions and spaces of the proposed multifunctional sport hall and their interconnections with the exterior facilities expects the refurbishment of the currently not very attractive urban space.
