The assignment of the Bachelor thesis is to design a multifunctional gymnasium in the sports area of CAŠ STU Mladá Garda in Bratislava and solve the problem of the location of a running tunnel and a climbing wall. The multifunctional gymnasium is designed to meet all necessary requirements for proper functioning of the sports centre, whose main part is a handball court suitable for various sport activities. In the immediate vicinity of the sports area where the object is situated, there are mostly schools and the university hall of residence Mladá Garda with its peculiar architecture. The outline is based on the improvement of the sports area and making it more attractive, therefore the running tunnel is situated outside of the multifunctional gymnasium and the climbing wall forms the dominant component in the layout of the inner space. The terrain altitude difference plays an important role in embedding of both of the objects into the slope. Very important was the effort to reach the harmony of colours and forms with the facade of the hall of residence. That is why the facade is designed mostly with circular and vaulted window slots. In order to improve the complex infrastrucure of the sports area, a new access path with a parking area was formed. Since the sports area consists only of outdoor playing areas, it can´t be used in bad weather. The design of the multifunctional gymnasium and the separate roofed running tunnel has removed this shortcomming and enhanced the sport activities. The integration of these objects has helped create not just functional but also visually interesting buildings.
