The aim of this work was to design the Residence of the ambassador on Jančovej Street in Bratislava. The proposal should include a small consular post, a representative office, a guest apartmentand a residence, the country is not specified. The location of the building and spatial solutionresult from the wider urbanistic and spatial composition relationships. The concept of the design is based on the shape of the terrain itself, which decreases towards theroad. I decided to use this descent and split the object into 3 functional units connected by a communication-service tract, while each functional unit is located on different height level. By doingso, I achieved a functional distribution of the object according to the importance of the functions, but still connected. At ground level, the consular office is located along with thecommunication-service tract. The representative part is located on the second floor and above itis the ambassador's private space. Parking is on the property. The dissected mass solution is to functionally separate each of the spaces based on function andimportance. At the same time it should visually reduce the mass of the object and it’s effect in thespace and area. The mass is on the slope, causing different visibility and views from differentparts of the area. Each part carries a 27% angle and opens towards the site from the central area.In this way, I have created terraces that are accessible only from the part they belong to, so everyunit has its own space, which is separated from the others.Another aspect of the architectural design is the material use of facades. In he lowest floor I choseplaster with structure of the raw concrete that contrasts with the nobleness of the travertine claddingof the ambassador's representative and private parts. The expression of the facade isenhanced by large areas of translucent and transparent materials, depending on the orientation ofthe sun. An important role here also plays the so-called the fifth facade, which is made up of anvegetation roof passing directly to the terrain. This solution increases the area of the terraces andoffers a generous view to the Austrian Alps. The whole building is designed as a wall reinforced concrete system. The technical-operationalsolution of the building is designed in accordance with applicable building regulations and standards. The aim was to create an architecturally interesting, clean and functional object that would meetthe requirements for the desired purpose and which would suitably add existing buildings.
