Abstract The aim of this diploma thesis was to perform technical and economic evaluation of the use of forest yarding systems in thinning logging. There were evaluated two yarding systems in thinning logging in the LESY SR state enterprise in this diploma thesis. Both yarding systems were from the LARIX, one of them is LARIX 3T, working at OZ Beňuš and the second yarding system is LARIX Lamako which was used at OZ Modrý Kameň. These cable yarding systems are owned by Lesy SR enterprise - OZLT (forestry equipment). In this diploma thesis are charakterized growths in which were used these yarding systems, than there are described technical parameters and detailed economic data of these yarding systems. The operations of these yarding systems in thinning logging were analyzed and described based on the obtained data. SWOT analysis was performed for the given issue and technical and economic optimization for these types of yarding systems in the thinnig logging heve been proposed at the end.
