The thesis presents a comprehensive evaluation of the load of selected soil areas by selected risk elements in the cadastre of the Papradno village. Based on chemical analyzes, the content of mercury, lead, copper, and zinc in selected soils was measured. Samples were measured and taken from 4 soil areas in autumn 2017. Re-sampling and measurement of samples also took place in autumn 2019. Analysis of mercury in the soil was performed in 2017 on a single-purpose atomic absorption spectrometer AMA 254. Analysis of lead, copper, and zinc took place in 2017 and was repeated in 2019 on a flame absorption atomic spectrometer GBC 933-AA. The thesis focuses on the legislative part and evaluation of the current state of soils in the Slovak Republic and the EU concerning heavy metals. Mercury concentration values were measured in 2017 in the range from 0.04922 to 0.07588 mg.kg⁻¹. The values of copper concentration decreased significantly from 0.346 mg.kg⁻¹ measured in2017 to the value of 0.318 mg.kg⁻¹ in 2019. The zinc concentration increased from 0.635 mg.kg⁻¹ measured in 2017 to the 0.651 mg.kg⁻¹ measured in 2019. Despite the lower average values of lead 0.284 mg.kg⁻¹ measured in 2019, even when compared to 0.589 mg.kg⁻¹ measured in 2017, the statutory limit of lead in soil is exceeded. In one of the examined soil areas, we found a connection between the increased occurrence of zinc and lead probably due to the operation of the nearby forging workshop. We evaluated the soil as contaminated in terms of increased lead concentrations and proposed measures.
