During the 20th century, with the increasing intensification of industry and agriculture, the idea of a stronger and functional protection of nature and landscape began to form. Significant progress was made in the introduction of ecological networks, which have the task of nature conservation or to increase the ecological stability of the territory by identifying important habitats and ecosystems, which are subsequently by protection and proper management in material and energy connection with other territories, thereby reducing their mutual isolation and increasing the biodiversity of the landscape. In Slovakia, the methodology of the Territorial System of Ecological Stability (TSES) is one of the best known and most important concepts of ecological networks. The theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis is devoted to ecological networks and TSES methodology, extended by a practical part, which presents analyses of biotic and abiotic elements of the landscape and proposal of gene pool locations for the Regional Territorial System of Ecological Stability (RTSES) in Košice surroundings.
