A prerequisite for a successful business is, among other things, the ability to seize the opportunity faster and better than the competition. The Diploma thesis deals with the strategic management by which the company can acquire this ability. It contains analysis and evaluation of selected areas of strategic management in company SHP Harmanec, a. s. The thesis is divided into five chapters, the first chapter is aimed at the theoretical framework from the field of strategic management with the focus on definitions and target orientation. It analyzes external and internal environment of companies and methods of their evaluation. The content of the next chapters is devoted to the aims of the work and its methodology. The analysis of the company made with the help of acquired knowledge is the subject of the practical part of the thesis and the synthetic part gives a general view of the proposals and measures for its improvement.
