HARČÁR, Peter: Management of sewage sludge. Diploma thesis, Technical University of Zvolen, Faculty of Ecology and Environmental Studies, UNESCO Department of Environmental Science and Sustainable Development. Supervisor: prof. Ing. Dagmar Samešová, PhD., Zvolen, 2020, 117 pages. This thesis is focused on research and analysis of possibilities of biotechnological treatment of sewage sludge to improve the management of sludge treatment in the wastewater treatment plant. The main points of thesis are elaboration of the analysis of legislative conditions for the treatment of sewage sludge, a detailed description of sewage sludge from its inception to its evaluation, respectively disposal, including the different methods of handling and comparing them. The main activity of biotechnological treatment of sewage sludge was to realize an experiment of metabolism of sewage sludge to gaseous products using aerobic fermentation processes. This experiment lasted for two months from April to May 2019. It was found that with a controlled aerobic fermentation process it is possible to metabolize all or almost all of the organic content of the sewage sludge while suitable conditions for aerobic fermentation organisms, especially thermophilic aerobic bacteria are created.
