The submitted master thesis briefly characterizes the current state of the solved problem and deals with the available options for increasing the life of working tools. The main goal of the master thesis is to propose suitable ways to extend the life of working tools of stone crushers used in the construction of forest roads. After the analysis of the working environment, the process of wear, the characterization of the tool material and the procedures for increasing the hardness of the surface layers, the technologies of welding hard metal layers were selected. In the next step, based on the processed search, we selected suitable hardfacing materials that will be applied to the exposed surfaces of the tool. In the experimental part, samples of the basic material of the tool and four hard welds were made. The samples were then subjected to appropriate laboratory tests - evaluation of the microstructure, measurement of hardness, analysis of the mixing quality of the hardfacing materials and base material, and abrasive wear test of hardfacing. Based on the results of the experiment and their comparison, we finally to propose the most suitable hardfacing material and to express a recommendation for use in practice.
