CHOVAN, Vladimír: Feeding of wild ruminants in relation to changes in hunting legislation [Master thesis]. Technical university in Zvolen. Faculty of forestry, Department of Applied Zoology and Game management. Supervisor: doc. MVDr. Dušan Rajský, PhD. Zvolen, 2020. 79 s.The thesis solves the problems of nutrition and feeding of wild ruminants in conditions of changing legislation. As a result of the ban on feeding by cereals, ways are being sought to ensure full nutrition for wild ruminants. The thesis is considering the possibility of using feed mixtures with higher content of crude fiber taking into account the nutritional requirements of ruminants. The output is a proposal of feed mixture with a proportion of forages of at least 72 % and a proportion of cereals of not more than 24 %, also in terms of designing a new feed category in the Game Care Plan. The proposed feed contains forest dendromass, hay, cereals and mineral feed. The results of the feeding trial in the hunting practice in the model hunting ground of Urban Forests in Kremnica showed that the long-term feeding of the red deer with the tested feed mixture and the protection of the game against excessive disturbance caused decrease of damage to the forest by 40 to 60 % compared to the situation before the introduction of new nutrition management. The digestibility of the feed mixture was determined by balance trial on red deer. The digestibility of dry matter was evaluated at 56 %, crude protein 52 %, crude fiber 36 %.
