Master’s thesis on the topic of “The traditions in contemporary interior design" researches the creation of commercial interior and corporate identity. The main goal is to find the symbiosis between Slovak cultural heritage and needs of current consumers. The first part of the thesis deals with the study of key traditional wedding ritual characteristics alongside analysis of the method of designing functional store interior. In main part of this thesis, the design is orientated towards the concept of a wedding salon, which transforms the symbolism of traditions into the expression of modern public interior. The authored design is embedded into architectural concept of a residential house in Ostrava. Its inspiration is drawn from the parts of female wedding gown and traditional symbols of wedding ceremony. The dominant feature of the designed area is the usage of white colour scheme and oval lines as the basic means of expression. The final design is an expression of the perception of traditions through symbols and their natural non-forced usage in current design. The project of designing the interior of the wedding salon "Parta" present a modern bride and a wedding ritual as elements intertwining cultural rules and subjective desires of the consumer.
