The final thesis observes the influence of thermal treatment on the resistance of beech wood to abrasion. The weight losses in the abrasion test were compared after individual heat treatments performed at 160 ° C, 180 ° C and 200 ° C, with heat treatment during 1 h, 3 h and 5 h at each temperature, and tests samples were made in two anatomical directions. - radial and tangential at each treatment temperature and time. They were also compared with the weight loss of nonthreatment samples. The modification was conducted in an air environment at atmospheric pressure. The results of the experiment leads us to conclusion, that when choosing a suitable floor or cladding material, it is necessary to consider its abrasion resistance as well as durability. Therefore, as the most suitable treatment for such a purpose, it is recommended to use thermal modification at 180 ° C with the duration of the treatment of 1h and 3h, or at 200 ° C with the duration of 1 hours, and use radial lumber is more appropriate at the same time.
